Early members resided primarily in East Greenwich and the Potowomut area of Warwick and held most of the early meetings in Potowomut homes.

In 2010, the Pettaquamscutt Chapter, NSDAR, organized in 1933 in North Kingstown, merged with the General Nathanael Greene Chapter, NSDAR, to form the General Nathanael Greene-Pettaquamscutt Chapter, NSDAR, as we are known today. In 2025, our Chapter marked 130 years of service.

In 1941, the Pettaquamscutt Chapter published “Facts and Fancies concerning North Kingstown, Rhode Island” in honor of the 50th anniversary of NSDAR

Mission

Historic Preservation: The General Nathanael Greene-Pettaquamscutt Chapter, NSDAR, owns and maintains two historic properties:
~ The Ye Old Baptist Burying Ground, Rhode Island Historic Cemetery No. EG062, on Wine Street in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
~ The General Nathanael Greene Memorial Seat site on Old Forge Road in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Our Chapter also supports the James Mitchell Varnum House Museum in East Greenwich.
